Being Sick Sucks

Well, I have had a sore throat for the last couple days, trying everything I could to kick it, but the drug store has now banned me from buying anything else for fear that all the concoctions I have bought may be used for a bomb. Okay, not really, but I should buy stock in Walgreens. It isn't all for me. Thatcher had to come home from school today because of diarrhea and throwing up. I decided that he could have any liquids he wanted other than juice or milk because he needed something in his system. Well, I gave him some red gatorade type drink and now I have red stains on my carpet. Not good. Poor little guy has only been this sick once and that was almost a year and a half ago. I just hope he doesn't get dehydrated. It is hard to see your child sick and there is nothing you can do about it other than hold them.

Barack Obama

I just started his new book The Audacity of Hope and so far am finding it refreshing and hopeful. For someone to so eloquently stand in their own authority and conviction, fighting against the temptations of politics while being deeply involved at the same time is aweinspiring. I saw him in a couple interviews and was just left with deep respect for this man, his values, morals, and outlook on life, politics and the goodness he sees in this country. I already found a site that is selling "Obama 2008" t-shirts, bumper stickers, pins, etc.

I have never volunteered for anything political in my life because I have continually felt like I only had two evils to choose from and would end up picking the lesser. Isn't that what our American way has gone toward in this country regarding politics. It gets ugly with mud-slinging, half-truths, pay-offs, bribes, back door deals, corruption, and enough crap to make just about anyone, regardless of their political leanings, sick to their stomach. I have switched between parties many a time trying to find who I felt was the best candidate, a person of integrity that would work for the people who put them in office. I have yet to feel I could vote for anyone thus far without doubt as to their own agenda and character. Then there comes this man, Barack Obama.

I encourage anyone to read his book, watch his interviews, get to know this man who I see as a hope for aligning this country, getting us back on the right path from which we are straying. Almost everyone I know feels helpless in some way, no matter how small, about where we are now as a country, the place politics have taken us in our domestic and foreign relations. I have been looking for someone like this man for quite some time. Okay, ever since I started voting. I implore you to come to know him and even if you don't agree with his political leanings, see the hope in his words, the power of his stance and conviction, and the integrity that he holds. He speaks many truths that can apply to all aspects of the political spectrum and things that we as the American people should not only expect, but demand from our government and those that serve us in office.

Barack Obama for President, hell yeah, without hesitation or question.

Marie Antoinette

I went to go see this movie tonight with Christine, and although I have seen worse movies this year, I wouldn't recommend it. There were several scenes where there was literally nothing and I wondered what it added to the actual script. I am still perplexed. Maybe a rental, but I wouldn't rush to get it off the Blockbuster shelf.

I can say there was one good thing about it, the movie made me curious as to the factual history of her life. I would like to know what was accurate and what wasn't. Christine says "let them eat cake" wasn't really her, sad that is what she was best known for in her life. The costumes were great though and the music wasn't bad. There was one song that seemed out of place.

Reminiscing

I think back to two years ago when it was Thatcher's first Halloween and how very cute he was...and still is, but he looked so different then. His wild curly hair and cherub cheeks. These pictures are my favorites that they almost make me cry with gratitude when I see them.
The one on the left is him with his "Trick or Treat" t-shirt and the second is him in his Halloween costume on the front porch of our house on Chatam. Wow, how he has grown in two years.

Figuring Out Technology

I am constantly amazed at what is available in terms of technology. I just have to be patient enough to read directions (one of my major downfalls).

Learning how to have titles, attach pictures, create a blog. Wow! Just testing it all out right now.

Match.com profile

Here is a real hoot. My profile from match.com for anyone wondering. Really, any feedback? http://www.match.com/profile/showprofile.aspx?lid=1000005&TP=U&UID=AgIir%2b1Edeig8HT4pUgPWg%3d%3d&Handle=smartybutcutie

Laughing is welcome, but hey, I am in the market. What can I say?

Pictures...Learning How to Post

This is a picture of my lovely mommy, my nephew and my son from last spring.

Lovely Friends

Giving credit...

My friend Christine at http://forgeneralpurposes.blogspot.com/ is the one who started me on this with starting her own blog. She is so creative and lovely. :) She is in the white top, with Sherry in the orange.

What to do?

Being that I am new to this whole blogging thing, I am trying to figure out what to use this medium for...hmmm. I could share about my being student, consultant, mother, single woman (although looking), liberal, or any number of things that narrowly define me. I will have to ponder this question.

My Photo w/ Thatch

Just figured out how to put a photo up. Most recent one of me and Thatcher. He looks so thrilled with his funky hairdo.

Interested in seeing how this whole blogging thing works. Never have done it before or read anyone else's blog. Heard about it though. I do read.
